A seminar bringing together professionals from the State Agency for Co-ordination of Protection of Victims of Trafficking, special anti-trafficking police teams, the Interior Ministry's Directorate for Combating Organized Crime, as well as departments from the Belgrade Social Work Centre took place October 4-5, 2004 in Belgrade. The focus of the interactive two-day training seminar was on the recognition of trafficked persons as victims rather than as criminals, and improving the standards of care with which victims are treated. NGOs as well as the International Organization for Migration participated in the seminar. The seminar was part of OSCE Mission in Serbia and Montenegro's efforts to support a successful relationship between governmental and NGO sectors in Serbia in order to combat this growing form of organized crime.
