The Organisation “ADP - ZID”, for ten years now, has been actively working on the development of voluntary work in Montenegro. As one of their actions was the campaign “One more day for their future” organised from 15 August until 15 September 2006. This action aimed at inviting all individuals and employees to select one working day and dedicate their per diem to volunteering at the working place. This per diem should be dedicated to the one of three funds:
1) the fund for providing school books for 38 children in Niksic, Savnik and Pluzine through the NGO “Humanitarac” from Niksic;
2) the fund for providing food, clothes and shoes for children through the NGO “House of Hope” from Podgorica;
3) the fund for providing expert literature and organisation of the concert with the participation of musically talented children through the foundation “Lika” from Ulcinj.
The aim of the action was to show that citizens of Montenegro have a social awareness that goes further than personal interest and that the tradition of mutual, human solidarity towards another human being and the development of the community actually never stopped existing in Montenegro. The campaign was organised, besides in Montenegro, in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Macedonia, and results will be presented at the regional conference on volunteerism in Sarajevo.
