The Gender Equality Office of the Government of Montenegro, in cooperation with the foundations “Konrad Adenauer” and “Eduardo Frei”, organized the conference entitled “Women and Entrepreneurship” on July 1, 2006.
Representatives of parliamentary parties, civil sector, state institutions and entrepreneurs participated in the work of the conference. Experiences from Holland and Germany were presented at the conference.
The participants of the conference concluded
the following: State that stable and sustainable development is possible only if equal access to economic resources for women and men, and equality in the processes of making economic decisions, is provided;
Oblige non governmental organizations and Gender Equality Office of the Government of Montenegro to initiate the networking of women entrepreneurs in Montenegro;
Call for the Government of Montenegro to create provisions which will institutionalize the support to women's entrepreneurship and do the project analysis on the justification of opening the incubator for women's
entrepreneurship; Demand the organization of programs for the stimulation of girls and women to enter the entrepreneurship and programs for their education ("Academy for women entrepreneurs", mentor system...);
Remind that in certain schools curriculums for entrepreneurship exist and that women's entrepreneurship should be strengthened through them;
Strengthen the Directorate for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises to continue their program "Entrepreneurship clubs in elementary schools".
