Government of Montenegro Has Passed the Law on Gender Equality

The Government of Montenegro, during its session of 3 May 2007, discussed and passed the draft Law on Gender Equality. This law, for the first time in our legislative history, promotes gender equality as one of the fundamental values of our legal system and stipulates a prohibition against discrimination based on sex. In accordance with the international and general rules of international law, the draft law stipulates fundamental principles of gender equality, as well as the general and special measures that provide a prohibition against discrimination on this basis.
