Initiated by IOM and supported by the Tajik government, the National Conference on Society Mobilization to Fight Traffic in Tajikistan took place on December 7 in Dushanbe. This event was organized to mobilize communities to fight this modern form of slavery. The conference was attended by representatives of the Interdepartmental Commission on Counteracting Traffic, representatives of civil society, diplomatic missions, as well as those of international organizations and mass media. The conference addressed obstacles to effective remedies for traffic victims provided for in Tajik law.
