The Committee commended the Constitution, which prohibits discimination based on origin, sex, race, nationality, language, faith, political or religious convictions or other personal or social traits or circumstances. It also affirmed that racial discrimination is prohibited in other legislation. The Committee also appreciated the State Party's statement that Kyrgyzstan is a multicultural society. The Committee was concerned, however, about racial discrimination in employment and housing against non-citizens.
Kyrgyzstan's Second and Third Periodic Reports under the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination were due on 5 October 2000 and 5 October 2002 and are now OVERDUE.
