The Gender Equality Office of the Government of Montenegro coordinated the writing of the First Initial Report according to the Convention of Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), which covers the period from 1992-2003. This obligation is prescribed by Article 18 of CEDAW, which obliges all signatory states to submit reports on legislative, judiciary and administrative measures adopted and aimed at implementing the Convention, and on obstacles encountered, as well. The first 16 articles of the Convention to be reported on are material articles, and they identify specific areas of discrimination significant for women, and they establish ways for the elimination of discrimination, as well.

The report was adopted by the Government of Montenegro on June 2004. Since the adoption took place during the functioning of the State Union Serbia and Montenegro, the report has been joined with Serbian report and submitted to the CEDAW Committee. There is no information at the time about the destiny of the report.

Here, you can find attached the report on Montenegrin and English language.
