Multi-agency Cooperation in Tackling Domestic Violence in the Czech Republic 8/3/2006 11:55 AMThere is a strong need for multi–agency cooperation in tackling domestic violence in our country. The first project was prepared by BKB (White Circle of Safety) – organization for victims of all crimes. The project was realized in Ostrava which is located in the Moravian part of the Czech Republic.
In 2006 ROSA – Informational and Counselling Centre for Women – victims of domestic violence has prepared a project of multi–agency cooperation which is called “From good intentions to good cooperation” and is regarded as a model of work for other NGOs from all over the Czech Republic.
The project “From good intentions to good cooperation,” which was developed in Austria within the Daphne program, is realized by ROSA in District 4 of Prague. Its goal is to establish good cooperation between particular NGOs and state institutions which can come into a contact with women – victims of domestic violence.
The frame of the project provided for the creation of an interdisciplinary team of the district of Prague 4 which consists of representatives of Police, social workers, psychiatrists, lawyer, the director of a basic school, and an NGO providing support for women, victims of domestic violence. The main goal of this cooperation is to create apropriate assistance for women – victims of domestic violence in all places where they decide to find help. If particular NGOs and state organizations do not cooperate and coordinate their assistance provided to women, the help will not be effective and fast enough.
Another important goal of the project is to produce a manual for effective multi–agency cooperation in tackling domestic violence. This manual will be used by other NGOs and state institutions to establish a multi–agency cooperation in various regions of the Czech Republic.
This project was supported by Open Society Fund Prague, Czech republic.
