The UNMIK Office of Gender Affairs has completed an Action Plan for the Advancement of Women for 2001-2003. There are six areas of priority, which include the reduction of poverty and economic empowerment; education, science and culture; health care; violence against women; legislation, women's rights and implementation and monitoring; and gender mainstreaming. The plan's overall aim is to advance the status of women, regardless of age, religion, culture or disabilities.
