A workshop “National Strategy and National Plan of Action to Combat Trafficking in Armenia” took place on 19-20 October in Congress Hotel, Yerevan. Representatives of the RA Ministry of Health, Ministry of Justice, Migration Agency, US Embassy in Armenia, UNDP, OSCE, UNHCR, UNICEF, UMCOR, as well as representatives of the NGOs dealing with the issue of trafficking, took part in the workshop.
The meeting was conducted by the independent expert Ms. Barbara Sidoti. Her task was to carry out an anti-trafficking response assessment and conduct the Anti-Trafficking Strategy and National Plan of Action Workshop for the national and international anti-trafficking community. The workshop participants were informed about the best practices of the national strategy and NPA development, and the comprehensive work that had been done by the ICMPD in the area of development, implementation and evaluation of NPA. During the second part of the workshop participants were divided into three working groups with the aim of drafting strategic goals and objectives for the following areas: Supporting Framework, Coordination Structures, Prevention, Investigation and Prosecution. The leaders of the groups presented the results of their work, which were discussed by all participants.
