The OSCE Mission to Montenegro organized a seminar on 1 September 2006 in Podgorica, aimed at regional expertise in identifying human trafficking victims, and ways of offering them help and treatment by special teams of experts.
The special teams of experts have been established by the Ministries of Interior, Health, Labor and Social Welfare, together with the Office of the National Co-ordinator for Anti-Trafficking and the non-governmental organization "Montenegrin Women's Lobby".
The seminar is part of OSCE activities to strengthen public-private cooperation in the prevention of trafficking and sexual exploitation of minors in travel and tourism, initiated over a year ago through the financial support of GTZ, an international cooperation enterprise of the German Federal Government, and the Government of France.
Participants also discussed the introduction of the pertinent Code of Conduct in the travel and tourism industry, which is expected to further improve counter-trafficking efforts in Montenegro.
Ambassador Paraschiva Badescu, acting Head of the OSCE Mission to Montenegro, as well as representatives of the above-mentioned Ministries and the Office of the National Coordinator for Anti-Trafficking spoke at the opening.
