Report on the Use and Impact of Medico-Legal Evidence on Sexual Assault Cases

The Sexual Violence Research Initiative in collaboration with the World Health Organization recently released a report entitled, “The Uses and Impacts of Medico-Legal Evidence in Sexual Assault Cases: A Global Review.”

The report looks specifically at medico-legal services and goes on to examine the impact of these services on legal outcomes. The global review also examines the social and cultural conditions impacting medico-legal evidence.

The report concludes by inspecting the knowledge gaps that exist within medico-legal evidence and makes recommendations based on the research found.
