Roundtable “Life-Long Learning from Gender Perspective” Held in Montenegro

Within the Fifth Festival of Education of Adults, the Gender Equality Office of the Government of Montenegro organised the roundtable “Life-Long Learning from Gender Perspective,” on October 4, 2006.

Introductory notes were given by: Dragan Nikolic, member of the Montenegro Council for the education of adults; Mary Ann Rukavina Cipetic, Executive Director of SP GTF; Klelija Balta, manager of the UNDP Gender Program of Bosnia and Herzegovina; Natalija Micunovic, Ph.D.; Jadranka Ðurkovic, Deputy Director of the Human Resources Department, and; Mladen Perazic, head of the Department for Education of Adults in the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro.

The welcome address was given by the head of the Gender Equality Office of the Government of Montenegro, Nada Drobnjak. She said, inter alia, that economic development of one state depends on the quality of human resources and that the usage of resources and investment in their quality are primary elements of development. Reminding that life-long learning improves knowledge, skills and abilities within personal, civil, social and working perspectives, she stressed the importance of providing equal opportunities for women and men in this area, as well. She introduced the participants to the part of the draft National Action Plan on the achievement of gender equality, which the Gender Equality Office prepared in cooperation with 11 NGOs and which is related to life-long learning and gender equality.
