Salvadoran Women Protest Femicide on International Day Against Violence Against Women

According to the Advocacy Project, a non-governmental organization based in Washington D.C., women in San Salvador, El Salvador spoke out against violence against women during the "16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence" which began on 25 November and ended on 10 December. These women focused on the problems of gun violence by staging marches throughout the capital city.

As of July 2008, 99 women were murdered in El Salvador and more than 80 were victims of gun violence, according to CEMUJER, a women’s human rights institution based in San Salvador.
