On 6 February 2006, the Committee on Family, Women and Children was established according to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. As "Trend" news agency reports, State Committee on Women's Issues have been liquidated.

A Committee on the Family, Women and Children has been established on the bases of the liquidated State Committee on Women's Issues. The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan should work out a Statute on the new Committee within one month and submit it to the President.

Another decree issued by the President appoints Hijran Guseynova Chief of the Committee.
