International Treaties

International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights: Signed only on 2 December 2003. Neither the Optional Protocol nor the Second Optional Protocol has been signed nor ratified. 

International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights: Signed only on 2 December 2003. 

Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women: Acceded to on 26 August 1998. Entered into force on 25 September 1998. The Optional Protocol was ratified on 24 August 2001 and entered into force on 24 November 2001.

International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination: Acceded to on 26 August 1998. Entered into force on 26 September 1998.

Convention on the Rights of the Child: Ratified on 12 August 1994. Entered into force on 11 September 1994. The Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the involvement of children in armed conflict was ratified on 10 April 2003 with a declaration on Article 3. Entered into force on 10 May 2003. The Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography was ratified on 24 August 2001 and entered into force on 18 January 2002. 

Convention against Torture and Other Cruel Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment: Acceded to on 26 August 1998. Entered into force 25 September 1998. No action has been taken on the Optional Protocol.

International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of all Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families: No action has been taken. 

Convention relating to the Status of Refugees: Acceeded to on 15 January 1999 with no reservations. Entered into force on 15 April 1999. The Protocol relating to the Status of Refugees was ratified on the same date.

Supplementary Convention on the Abolition of Slavery, the Slave Trade, and Institutions and Practices Similar to Slavery: No action has been taken. 

Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children: No action has been taken.

Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court: No action has been taken. 

ILO C29 Forced Labour Convention: Ratified on 18 May 2001.

ILO C111 Discrimination (Employment & Occupation) Convention: Ratified on 6 December 1999. 

ILO C143 Migrant Workers (Supplementary Provisions) Convention: No action has been taken. 

ILO C182 Worst Forms of Child Labour: Ratified on 26 February 2003.

European Convention for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment: No action has been taken.
