International Treaties

International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights: Acceded to on 7 October 1994 with no reservations. Entered into force on 7 January 1995.

The Optional Protocol was acceded to on 7 October 1995 with no reservations and entered into force on 7 January 1994. The Second Optional Protocol has neither been signed nor ratified.

International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights: Acceded to and entered into force on 7 October 1994 with no reservations.

Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women: Acceded to on 10 February 1997 with no reservations. Entered into force on 12 March 1997.

The Optional Protocol was ratified on 22 July 2002 with no reservations and entered into force on 22 October 2002.

International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination: Acceded to on 5 September 1997 with no reservations. Entered into force on 5 October 1997.

Convention on the Rights of the Child: Acceded to on 7 October 1994 with no reservations. Entered into force on 6 November 1994.

The Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the involvement of children in armed conflict was acceded to on 13 August 2003 and entered into force on 13 September 2003.

The Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography was acceded to on 12 February 2003 and entered into force on 12 March 2003.

Convention against Torture and Other Cruel Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment: Acceded to on 5 September 1997 with no reservations. Entered into force on 5 October 1997. The Optional Protocol has not been signed nor ratified.

International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of all Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families was ratified on 29 September 2003 with no reservations. Entered into force on 1 January 2004.

Convention relating to the Status of Refugees: Acceded to on 8 October 1996 with no reservations. Entered into force on 6 January 1997. 

The Protocol relating to the Status of Refugees was ratified on the same date. 

Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children: Signed on 13 December 2000.

Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court: Signed on 8 December 1998.

ILO C29 Forced Labour Convention: Ratified on 31 March 1992.

ILO C111 Discrimination (Employment & Occupation) Convention: Ratified on 31 March 1992. 

ILO C143 Migrant Workers (Supplementary Provisions) Convention: No action has been taken. 

ILO C182 Worst Forms of Child Labour: Ratified on 11 May 2004.

Regional Treaties

Statute of the Council of Europe: Kyrgyzstan is not a member of the Council of Europe.

European Convention for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment: No action has been taken.

(European) Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities: No action has been taken.
