International Treaties

International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights: Acceded to on 28 September 1995 with no reservations. Entered into force on 28 December 1995. The Optional Protocol was acceded to on 28 September 1995 and entered into force on 28 December 1995. No action has been taken on the Second Optional Protocol.

International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights: Acceded to on 28 September 1995 with no reservations. Entered into force on 28 December 1995.

Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women: Acceded to on 19 July 1995 with no reservations. Entered into force on 18 August 1995. No action has been taken on the Optional Protocol .

International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination: Acceded to on 28 September 1995 with no reservations and entered into force on 28 October 1995.

Convention on the Rights of the Child: Acceded to on 29 June 1994 with no reservations and entered into force on 29 July 1994. No action has been taken on either the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the Involvement of Children in Armed Conflict or the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the Sale of Children, Child Prostitution and Child Pornography.

Convention against Torture and Other Cruel Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment: Acceded to on 28 September 1995 with no reservations. Entered into force on 28 October 1995. No action has been taken on the Optional Protocol.

International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of all Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families: No action has been taken.

Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees: No action has been taken. Nor has action been taken regarding the Protocol Relating to the Status of Refugees.

Supplementary Convention on the Abolition of Slavery, the Slave Trade, and Institutions and Practices Similar to Slavery: No action has been taken.

Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children: Signed on 28 June 2001.

Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court: Signed on 29 December 2000. 

ILO C29 Convention Concerning Forced or Compulsory Labour : Ratified on 13 July 1992.

ILO C111 Discrimination (Employment & Occupation) Convention: Ratified on 13 July 1992.

ILO C138 Minimum Age Convention: adopted March 2008.

ILO C143 Migrant Workers (Supplementary Provisions) Convention: No action has been taken. 

ILO C182 Convention Concerning the Prohibition and Immediate Action for the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labour: adopted March 2008.

Regional Treaties
