Women Engaged in Supply of Girls to the Arab Emirates Was Arrested in Baku

The main Organized Crime Department of the Ministry of the Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan reported the arrest of Hijran Aliyeva, who was engaged in the trafficking business. According to the report in June 2006, she sent a woman from Azerbaijan to United Arab Emirates to her brother Yusif Aliyev. Yusif Aliyev, sexually exploited women and then sold her to another man. The department initiated a criminal case based on this fact.

In total, in the first half of 2006, 8 organized criminal groups engaged in trafficking in human beings had been arrested in Azerbaijan. Twenty-six victims of trafficking were released.
