One of the most useful tools available is a searchable database called Funders Online provided by the European Foundation Centre (EFC). This database allows users to search for European funders by subject area, geographical focus, and type of financial support available. The EFC also maintains the Orpheus Civil Society Project, which works to "strengthen[] the work of independent funders by providing up-to-date and comprehensive information about new philanthropy initiatives in the region." The Civil Society Project works through InfoCenters in Central and Eastern Europe. These InfoCenters may also be valuable sources of information about funding opportunities.

Friends and Partners offers a searchable database of funding opportunities for CEE/CIS.

Civil Society International offers annotated lists of international organizations that partner with organizations in CEE/CIS. Grantseekers can use the subject-matter headings or simply browse through the listings.

Philanthropy News Digest's issue on International Philanthropy contains an annotated list of donors. Two sections of the list—"Central and Eastern Europe" and the "Newly Independent States"—provide useful information on the most active donors in the region.
