France adopted a new law in August that imposes fines of up to 750 Euros for sexual harassment and aggression against women in public, or street harassment. The law is intended to deter “predatory remarks and harassment such as wolf-whistles.” In September, a court issued the first penalty under the law to a man who was sexually and physically aggressive with a woman riding a bus near Paris.
