Individual Grantseekers

Many of the principles that apply to grantwriting for organizations also apply to individual grantseekers. The Foundation Center's Online Orientation to the Grantseeking Process also notes that individuals may find it useful to design projects to be conducted in affiliation with an established organization. This kind of affiliation may help assure the donor of the project's success and longevity.

The Foundation Center offers a host of links for individual grantseekers, as well as specific information for individuals seeking financial support for higher education or for starting a small business. GrantProposal offers information on researching sources for grants to individuals, as well.

Michigan State University also provides an excellent bibliography of resources for individuals seeking grants in the academic setting. The library at the University of Wisconsin, as part of the Foundation Center's Library Network, provides a guide to funding research for individuals.
