On October 10, 2006 Azerbaijan Parliament Milli Majlis adopted in the third reading the Law ‘On Guarantees for Gender (Men and Women) Equality’.

‘The main objective of the approved Law is to ensure that men and women have equal rights in all spheres of society and to ensure the elimination of all discriminatory practices based on sex" – announced the Chief of the Parliamentary Human Rights Commission Rabiyat Aslanova.

The Law prohibits discrimination based on the sex of a person, sexual harassment, and the publication of announcements of a discriminatory character. Besides that, the Law stipulates duties of the state and employer to ensure gender equality in places.
