Based on statements made during the Fourth World Conference on Women, the government of Latvia is committed to implementing the Beijing Platform for Action. The government pledged to amend the labor code to facilitate childcare leave, supplement social welfare benefits for mothers, develop preschool institutions, conduct findings on gender-based statistics and appoint an official to monitor compliance with CEDAW.

Latvia has submitted a response (PDF, 19 pages) to the United Nations' Division for Advancement of Women's questionnaire on the implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action.
