The Network of East-West Women-Polska was founded in 1999 as an independent association. NEWW-Polska is a part of NEWW network that includes 30 member countries. Founded in 1991 NEWW is and international communication and resource network supporting dialogue, informational exchange, and activism among those concerned about the status of women in Central and Eastern Europe, the Newly Independent States, and the Russian Federation.
NEWW-Polska became the International Secretariat of The Network of East-West Women in June 2004. The association has the status of an organization working for the public benefit. Some of the main activities of NEWW-Polska include: -maintenance of NEWW website (regional portal) ant two listserves; -coordination of international and regional projects; -organization of meetings and conferences supporting women’s participation in social and political life; -providing access to legal and psychological counseling; -organization of the project “Book and Journal’ that popularizes women’s movement literature.

Artur Czerwinski of NEWW-Polska and Agnieszka Mrozik will be managing the STOPVAW country page for Poland.
Artur Czerwinski has been working for NEWW-Polska since August 2004. Since 2003 he has been a Board Member of Campaign Against Homophobia and a head of the Campaign's branch in Gdansk. He was engaged in political lobbying for establishment and implementation of EU anti-discrimination law in Poland. He co-organized a number of conferences, discussions and strategy planning meetings as well as equality parade and feminst demonstrations in Poland. He is also a philosophy student at University of Gdansk. Agnieszka Mrozik graduated from the Faculty of Polish Studies and the American Studies Center at the Warsaw University and currently she is a Ph.D. student at the Polish Academy of Sciences. In 2004 she participated in Feminist Summer School in Sopot. In 2005 she was an intern at the National Information Center OSKa and now she co-operates with Feminoteka Women's Foundation. Additionally, Agnieszka teaches course on women's literature and feminist theory at the Warsaw University. She is also the editor-in-chief of the literary quarterly "Literacje". Since February 2005 she is a member of the March 8th Women's Alliance - an informal group that annually organizes women's marches (Manifa) in Warsaw.
