Hotline for Women Victims of Domestic Violence
10/3/2007 9:17 AMContributed by: Vilana Pilinkaite-Sotirovic, Lithuania National VAW Monitor, Center for Equality Advancement The Ministry of Social Security and Labour has drafted amendments to the National Program of Reduction of Violence against Women and proposed to introduce support for a hotline for victims of domestic violence. The hotline would operate twenty-four hours per day. Current existing telephone lines for women-victims do not provide consultations twenty-four hours per and every day. This would be the first hotline in Lithuania for women victims of violence operating twenty-four hours.
For this purpose, the Ministry plans to spend around 200 000 litas (approx. 58000 euros) for 2008-2009.
