• The Committee expressed concern over reports of inadequate prison conditions, rough or cruel treatment of detainees being interrogated, and the lack of investigations following allegations of torture. The Committee also urged the government to re-examine its Criminal Code, which punishes torture only if the acting authorities knew they were committing a criminal offense by their acts.
