The following organizations and clearinghouses may be useful starting points for identifying and contacting potential coalition partners in CEE/CIS.

Nasilie (also available in English) and Open Women Line (also available in English) offer information about CEE/CIS partner organizations and their activities.

VOICE International is committed to strengthening civil society by supporting the formation, independence and diversity of the NGO sector in CEE/CIS. VOICE organizes the Voluntary Organizations Initiative, a nonprofit information clearinghouse and technical assistance network for NGOs working in CEE/CIS. Voice International also provides a list of links to national clearinghouses.

Development Gateway is a portal though which NGOs can view and access information about recent developments in the field of development and gender. NGOs can also view and (with registration) post information about upcoming projects and thus identify potential partnerships.

At Idealist, NGOs can search for other NGOs by country and subject-matter area. Idealist also fosters inter-NGO communication by providing a forum for organizations to post information about job and volunteer openings and upcoming events.

The European Network for Democracy Project is an internet-based directory of NGOs working in CEE/CIS.

The Global Fund for Women sells the Directory of Grantee Organizations: Linking Women Globally that lists 800 women's organizations in 130 countries, organized by region, that have been funded by Global Fund for Women.

NGONet is an electronic networking resource for NGOs in CEE/CIS. NGONet offers news, directories of organizations, resources for NGOs and an electronic library.

The Network of East West Women works to link women across national and regional boundaries to share resources, knowledge and skills, through dialogue, networking, campaigns, and educational and informational exchanges. NEWW provides email listserves and lists of women's NGOs in CEE/CIS by country.

WAVE International is a network of approximately 1000 European NGOs working to combat violence against women and children. WAVE seeks to gather information on violence against women and children, promote feminist analyses of violence against women, and provide a framework for the exchange of information between and coalition building among organizations working on violence issues, particularly between organizations in different regions of Europe. Through collaborative effort, WAVE seeks to influence national, European and international policies on violence and develop and promote criteria and guidelines concerning legislation, services and prevention strategies at the European level.

The Women's/Gender Studies Association of Countries in Transition provides a forum for information and research exchange in the field of women's and gender studies.

The Civitalis Association seeks to promote the work of Hungarian NGOs and promote collaboration with national, regional and international organizations.

Civicus seeks to provide an open forum to facilitate and establish cross-sectoral dialogue and to develop solidarity and cooperation within civil society sectors from various regions. Civicus also works toward NGO-friendly legal reforms.

The GAINS Network of the United Nations International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women is an internet-based research and training environment that provides networking and collaboration opportunities for organizations around the world.

Novib provides a searchable database of international women's organizations. From the main page, select "bibliography" and then "show all" to display a list of all organizations.
