  • Concluding observations of the Committee (French) (Spanish)
  • The Committee expressed concerns over the low number of women in senior-level positions in both public and private sectors. The Committee regretted the high maternal mortality rate and urged the government to provide more effective family planning and contraception. The Committee was also concerned over continuing reports of rape and sexual harassment of women. It recommended that the government use training and education to increase public awareness, take measures to encourage women to report violence, provide shelters for victims, and adopt legislation on domestic violence, including a restraining order to protect women from violent family members.
