Minnesota From November 26 to December 10, 2007, Common Roots Cafe will display photographs related to the work of the Women’s Human Rights Program at The Advocates for Human Rights in honor of 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence. The 16 Days Campaign – beginning on November 25, International Day Against Violence Against Women and ending on December 10, International Human Rights Day – recognizes violence against women as a violation of international human rights. The campaign highlights the local work of advocates, connects local and global issues, and links activists together to share strategies. The 2007 theme is Demanding Implementation, Challenging Obstacles—End Violence Against Women! Since its inception in 1991, over 154 countries have participated in the campaign.
On Friday, November 30 from 7:30-8:30 P.M., Women’s Program staff will give a short presentation and lead a discussion about their local and international work at the café.
