The Gender Equality Office of the Government of Montenegro organised in Podgorica an exhibition of children’s paintings entitled “Stop Violence against Women.” By participating in the Council of Europe Campaign on combating violence against women and in the global campaign 16 days of activism, the Gender Equality Office held a painting competition for children 10 to 15 years of age from Montenegro. During the competition, 1239 paintings were submitted. The Office established the commission with the task of selecting paintings and awarding them with first, second and third places, an award for the school collection, and an award for the school teacher. The Commission performed its work and, in addition to the awards, selected 273 paintings of pupils from 25 schools to exhibit. The Commission, in addition to these works, selected 24 paintings that will appear in the Office calendars for 2008. The Gender Equality Office also broadcast the Council of Europe TV Spot for the Campaign on the state television and on three private televisions during the period 25 November until 10 December 2007. In cooperation with UN agencies in Montenegro, the first- and second-placed entries were published in the daily newspapers “Vijesti” and “Dan” during the campaign.
The NGO Anima organised the performance entitled “Against Repression” with participants of women's studies on the occasion of marking the campaign 16 days of activism that started on 25 November. On this occasion, ANIMA submitted an open letter to the Parliament, government, political parties, Gender Equality Committee, Gender Equality Office and media, as well.

The Association of employed women, “Woman Today,” held a press conference and suggested the establishment of a special state body that will deal with the application of the labour law and protection of women in the workplace.
The NGO Anima, in cooperation with the Center for Culture Kotor, started a series of lectures entitled “Peace, Feminism, Facing the Past.”
On  | the occasion of the 16 days campaign, they organised the workshop “Always Disobedient,” during which the movie on the activism of Women in Black was broadcast.

Within the campaign 16 days activism, a cocktail meeting was organised by the municipality Bijelo Polje, NGO Women for Better Tomorrow, supported by the OSCE Mission in Montenegro and the Government Office for Gender Equality. On this occasion, materials and leaflets on violence against women were distributed. This activity is the part of the project performed by the OSCE Mission in Montenegro and Government Office for Gender Equality entitled “Gender Equality in Local Community,” which is conducted in five municipalities of Montenegro.

The NGO SOS telephone for women and children victims of violence organised in Bar the tribune entitled “Media speaking on violence against women.” The tribune pointed out the importance of responsible media reporting on violence against women.
The Faculty of Philosophy in Niksic in cooperation with the centre for women’s studies and gender research from the University of Oslo organised the conference “Women in Politics.” One of the goals of the conference is the promotion of the results of research project, “Representation of women in political institutions in Montenegro,” as well as the discussion of the status of women in politics in Montenegro and the region. Eminent experts in the field of gender, politicians, and representatives of NGOs participated in the conference.

On the occasion of 2 December – International Day for the Abolition of Slavery, NGO Women for Better Tomorrow organised an activity in the square of Bijelo Polje within the project “Mobilisation of the community in combating trafficking in human beings.” Informative materials were distributed to citizens on this occasion.

The Governmental Office for Gender Equality and UNDP Montenegro organised the seminar “Stop Violence against Women.” The aim of the seminar is mobilisation of support from the political sector, experts and the wider public in Montenegro in order to direct future activities towards long-term solutions of the problem of violence in the family.
