Krygyzstan's National Plan of Action, also known as the Ayalzat national program, was approved on 6 March 1996 for the period of 1996 to 2000. The main areas of priority are: improving legislation, developing national machinery for improving the status of women, promoting women's education, improving women's health, overcoming poverty, improving women's representation in decision-making positions, establishing support programs for girls, reducing all forms of violence against women, assisting rural women, using the media to advance the status of women and addressing the connection between the environment and women's health. The Plan sets forth short-term and long-term objectives for the focus areas. A National Plan of Action for the Achievement of Gender Equality 2002 to 2006 (Russian), as well as a mechanisms for implementation (Russian) have been elaborated.

Kyrgyzstan has submitted a response to the United Nations' Division for Advancement of Women's Questionnaire regarding implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action
