Opium Brides on the Rise
4/21/2008 4:57 PMIn some parts of Afghanistan, fathers are settling their loans paying for their poppy production with drug traffickers by selling their daughters. In poorer places, an opium bride is worth $3000, and in other areas, an opium bride may be worth $8000. Over ninety percent of the world’s heroin is produced in Afghanistan.
