Regional trainings on combating human trafficking for law enforcement and civil servants 8/11/2007 5:46 AMJuly 23, 2007 regional training on combating human trafficking for chiefs of district police officers departments in Lviv region took place. Training was organized with support of OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine and Ministry of Internal Affairs, and was financed by Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a frame of the Danish program on counteracting human trafficking in Eastern Europe.
33 representatives of local services of district police officers took part in the training.
West Ukrainian Centre “Women’s Perspectives” organized training in Lviv.
The aim of the training was:
- to promote better understanding problem of human trafficking;
- to support de-stigmatization of victims of human trafficking;
- to promote better understanding of role of district police officers in combating human trafficking, as well as their role in identification and addressing victims of trafficking for further assistance.
Training was conducted expert in human trafficking problem, trainer Natalia Kozlova, and specialist of human rights program OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine office – Hlib Yasynskiy.
During the training district police officers discussed reasons and consequences of human trafficking in Ukraine, increasing role of district police officers in the process of counteracting human trafficking: increasing awareness of the problem in local communities, identification of victims of trafficking and addressing them for further assistance; prosecution of traffickers.
July 18-19, 2007 regional training on combating human trafficking for civil servants in Lviv region took place. Training was organized with support of OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine and Ministry of Family, Youth and Sport, and was financed by Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a frame of the Danish program on counteracting human trafficking in Eastern Europe.
20 representatives of regional departments of family, youth and sport, departments of education, departments of public health, NGO took part in the trainign.
West Ukrainian Centre “Women’s Perspectives” organized training in Lviv.
The aim of the training was:
- to promote better understanding problem of human trafficking;

- to promote better understanding of role of civil servants in prevention and combating human trafficking, as well as their role in addressing victims of trafficking for further assistance and providing assistance for victims.
- To strengthen coordination and cooperation of involved institutions on a level of policies and operational level, as well as improve effectiveness of such cooperation.
Training was conducted expert in human trafficking problem, trainer Tetyana Litvinova, and specialist of human rights program OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine office – Hlib Yasynskiy.
