Sexual Harassment at the Workplace Is Quite Common 12/18/2006 6:59 AMContributed by: Agnieszka Mrozik, Poland National VAW Monitor 73% of Polish people consider that sexual harassment is quite common in our country: (20% claim that it takes place very often while 53% say that it does from time to time) – these are the findings of the survey conducted on behalf of “Gazeta Wyborcza”.
The answers by women and men are the same! There are no big differences between various age and education groups (only people primarily educated more rarely stated that the sexual harassment takes place). The answers differed depending on the dwelling place. The country and small town dwellers more rarely observed the phenomenon of the sexual harassment (67% did while 20% did not) compared to the answers of the medium-size town dwellers (77% did while 13% did not). In the big cities (population more than 200,000 people) there is a high awareness of sexual harassment (86% claim that it takes place, while only 6% say it does not). It may prove that the phenomenon is a part of the big-city culture and intensifies in the big companies and factories.
