The Advocates for Human Rights Conducts Police Training in Latvia

The Advocates’ Women’s Human Rights Program Director Cheryl Thomas and Lieutenant Scott Jenkins of the Duluth, Minnesota Police Department visited Latvia from January 14-18, 2013, to train police on best practices in responding to domestic violence cases. The training was sponsored by the US Embassy in Riga.

After the training Cheryl Thomas and Scott Jenkins shared their impressions and knowledge about Latvian legal remedies for battered women and Minnesota’s road to its present legal system response on the Latvian television show, “Meet America.”
