The Advocates, BGRF, and Alliance present at the Third World Shelter Conference
The Advocates, Rosalyn Park and Theresa Dykoschak and our partners, the Bulgarian Gender Research Foundation (BGRF) and Alliance for the Protection against Domestic Violence, presented at the World Shelter Conference in The Hague in early November. We highlighted our collaborative relationship as an example of the positive impact international partnerships and multi-pronged approaches can have on domestic violence legal reform. For more than 20 years, The Advocates and BGRF have worked together to advocate for changes to Bulgaria’s laws. At the national level, they have conducted monitoring reports to document gaps in laws and practice and trainings for police officers, judges, prosecutors, and advocates. At the international level, the partners have reported and advocated at United Nations treaty bodies and working groups to strengthen Bulgaria's response to domestic violence.
