The most recent crime survey released by the United Kingdom’s Office of National Statistics revealed a thirty-one percent increase in the number of rapes recorded by the police in England and Wales. As reported in the Guardian, officials said the increase was most likely due to improved record keeping by police, in compliance with national standards. Additionally, they said more victims were willing to report sexual violence to law enforcement.
