New Zealand will be giving $200 million to domestic violence services in response to an uptick in domestic violence during lockdown. According to data from police and domestic violence service agencies, cases related to domestic violence have increased by 20% in New Zealand since the beginning of the lockdown. In response, a non-profit working to support survivors of domestic violence, Women’s Refuge, is renting out Airbnb properties and motels in order to shelter women and maintain the integrity of lockdown protocols in New Zealand.
