In Palestine, the NGO Palestinian Working Women Society for Development reported more than 510 phone consultations in the span of two weeks. 206 of the 510 calls were related to gender-based violence. The burdens placed on organizations during this time are made more difficult by the financial deficits of recent years, such as aid cuts and Israel withholding tax money from the Palestinian Authority, further weakening federal opportunities to provide funding for these essential services. Several advocates have noted with concern that the limited federal budget may be allocated to basic survival needs of Palestinians and may very well overlook the survival needs of individuals experiencing increase domestic violence during the lockdown.
