On December 12, 2025, members of the European Parliament met with representatives from Croatia and Slovenia of the My Vote My Choice initiative, which collected 1.2 million signatures across the European Union in support of safe and accessible abortions. Croatia far surpassed the threshold goal set for each member state by gathering 65,000 signatures. The European Parliament is set to vote on a resolution to guarantee the right to safe and accessible abortions for women in all member states on December 18, 2025. Although abortion is legal in Croatia, there are barriers that can force women to travel to other states for their healthcare–a reality that the Vice President of parliament Sabina Glasovac hopes will become a thing of the past.
