Haiti: Ongoing gang violence in Haiti harms women and girls’ safety, health, and rights
Thursday, May 29, 2025 1:30 PM

Ongoing gang violence in Haiti is impacting women and girls’ physical and personal safety. The violence has displaced more than one million people, over half of whom are women and girls. The violence has also caused rising levels of acute food insecurity and gender-based violence, as well as school shutdowns and decreased access to health services. Women in particular are targets of sexual violence. UN Women is calling on the international community to provide aid and programmatic assistance.
