Spain and Mexico have partnered to present “La mitad del mundo. La mujer en el México indígena” (“Half the World: The Woman in Indigenous Mexico”), a major exhibition opening October 31 in Madrid. Organized by AECID and Mexico’s INAH, with support from Spain’s Ministry of Culture, Instituto Cervantes, and SEGIB, the show features 435 pieces highlighting the role of Indigenous women throughout history. Each venue explores a different theme, from social and spiritual life to artistic expression and leadership, including the display of the funerary treasures of the Mayan “Red Queen” of Palenque. The exhibition runs until early 2026 and forms part of a wider cultural program ahead of Mexico’s participation as Partner Country at FITUR 2026.
