New legislation in Texas seeks to criminalize those offering transportation assistance to youth seeking out-of-state abortion care. The proposed legislation, Senate Bill (SB) 2352 and House Bill (HB) 459, would make it illegal to offer or fund transport for those under 18 without written parental permission. Punishment for such an action would include up to 20 years in prison and monetary fines. The bills further isolate young people by targeting the individuals and organizations they rely on for help.
