The Council of Europe's (CoE) Ad Hoc Committee on Preventing and Combating Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence recently launched its website, which will provide information regarding progress made towards the development of a European Convention on Violence Against Women. The website contains background information explaining how the Ad Hoc Committee was created. The Committee was set up following a determination by the European Committee on Crime Problems (CDPC) that there is a need for the European Council to address the problem of violence against a partner.
Also included on the website are links to relevant documents, websites of related organizations, and a schedule of the Committee's meetings.
The website states that as of April 2009, the Committee will be working on legally binding instruments to prevent and combat violence against women.
