Bahrain: Human rights violations, including gender-based discrimination, systematically persist

The Bahrain Center for Human Rights (BCHR) has raised alarms due to the ongoing human rights violations in Bahrain, especially concerning bigoted policies against women, systematic detaining of children, suppression of civic freedoms, and crackdown on peaceful assembly and free expression. Regarding women’s rights specifically, Bahraini women face exclusion from leadership roles, are arbitrarily rejected from partaking in the labor market, struggle with accessing welfare resources for their children if their spouse is not Bahraini, and are denied the right to pass their nationality to their children, showcasing systematic gender-based discrimination that women have to endure.
