Craigslist Pulls Adult Services Section From International Sites Amid Pressure About Human Trafficking

Craigslist has removed the 'adult services' section from its international sites shortly after pulling the section from its U.S site earlier this year amid scrutiny about human trafficking. Craigslist closed the section on its sites in Canada, Asia, Europe, South America, and Africa on December 18, 2010.

Craigslist shut down the adult services section of its U.S site in September, following mounting criticism from states' attorneys general that the section contained veiled ads for prostitution and sex trafficking. In recent months, Craigslist faced similar pressure from Canada’s federal Justice Minister and provincial governments, who cited data from sex trafficking cases in Canada that pimps used Craigslist to advertise women and girls.
