In Colombia, the government-run domestic abuse hotline in Bogota received an average of 471 calls and WhatsApp messages a day, up 160% since the quarantine started. Throughout the country, at least 13 women have been killed, many at the hands of partners in the home, since the beginning of the lockdown. Women experiencing domestic violence can now seek help in hundreds of supermarkets and pharmacies as part of a campaign called #SafeSpaces, launched in April.
