France: Poster Campaign Raises Awareness of Domestic Abuse

In Paris, a poster campaign to awareness about violence against women has taken hold following the French government’s “underfunded” efforts to confront the country’s recent rise in domestic violence. The awareness campaign is run by a group of approximately 1,500 feminist activists who call themselves “The Gluers.” Founded in the summer of 2019 by Marguerite Stern, the group has put up hundreds of posters around the city decrying sexual abuse and femicide, though doing so is considered vandalism and is illegal. The group has also posted pictures of the posters on their Instagram, spreading the movement throughout France and to Belgium and Italy.
