New Resource: Study shows 1 in 4 Women Globally Experience Intimate Partner Violence

A new article, compiling 366 studies representing 2 million women’s responses, found that 1 in 4 women under 50 (27%) have experienced intimate partner violence. Researchers LynnMarie Sardinha and colleagues published the study, “Global, regional, and national prevalence estimates of physical or sexual, or both, intimate partner violence against women in 2018,in the Lancet Journal. As a result of compounding inequalities, women from low-income countries and young women (between 15 and 19 years and between 20 and 24) experience the highest rates of violence from an intimate partner in the past year.
